Ways to Liven Up your Basement Bathroom

You may have installed your basement bathroom as an additional facility in your house should there be any guests to come over. Seeing as that is the case, you should not take it for granted. Here are some basement bathroom ideas that you could adopt to beautify your T&B.

Add appropriate lighting. Is your basement bathroom small? Most are, and you can suffice for this by using bright lights at vital areas of your bathroom, such as by the shower and sink. To maximize light, you can also use spotlights on the wall. Although your bathroom is below the ground, you can always find a way to let natural light to shine through.

Choose neutral wall paint colors. One thing that will totally complement your ambient lighting is the color of your walls. Light-colored ceilings create an illusion of height, and this will make a cramped bathroom seem more spacious.

Place mirrors. Like light-colored ceilings, mirrors are the best way to create an illusion of space. It opens up the area and even lets the light bounce off from one mirror to another. If you are claustrophobic, then using a basement bathroom with mirrors won’t give you any problems.

Install cabinets at strategic locations. You may also prefer to use your basement bathroom as a place to store your extra linen and other essential toiletries. However, you must make sure that you have enough space inside the bathroom to install your cabinets. Place them at strategic locations, like above the sink, or anywhere where water can’t easily get to it.

Put indoor plants. To give an ambience of life inside your bathroom, one great basement bathroom idea is to put small plants above the toilet and even by the sink. Choose plants that can live without constant sunshine and can thrive in moist environments. The fern plant is a great example.
