Whether you are building a model train set or set of bookshelves there are two tools that you must have in your hobbyist toolbox, a Brad Nailer and a Dremel 8000. These 2 tools alone can do a multitude of jobs making them a necessity in the savvy hobbyist tool collection. They will help you make the most of your woodworking projects saving you time, money, and energy.
The Dremel 8000 is the newest Dremel on the market. It is a cordless version but unlike previous versions this cordless uses a Lithium-ion battery instead of a nickel-cadmium battery. The difference is in your battery life. The battery will hold its charge 6 times longer than the previous versions and in storage it can last for up to 2 years. It also has a helpful tool with its battery power gauge that will allow you to always know the amount of time left in your battery.
This Dremel also comes with a 40 piece accessory kit and a rotary tool. It has a variable speed option that will go from 5,000 to 35,000 RPM’s allowing you to match the right speed with the right job. With this one tool you can grind down tiles to update your bathroom, cut out shapes for your model train set or sharpen your other woodworking tools.
The second must have item in your toolbox is a brad nailer. This small nail gun comes in a pneumatic or electric version. Not only does it use the small brad nails most will substitute with staples as well so you don’t have to have a separate staple gun. It is a great tool for small woodworking projects such as making a picture frame or covering a stool with fabric. Another great benefit is most of them are pretty lightweight weighing less than 3 pounds so you are not lugging around heavy equipment.
