A garden may not seem like the kind of place where you would place light fixtures, but there are so many opportunities to accent it with colorful light.  Things like trees, water fountains and rocks can be lit up so you can visibly see them even in the dark. Accent lights have a profound effect on the look and feel of a garden, making nighttime viewing much different than that of the day. You won’t hear any birds chirping or bees buzzing, but you will be able to enjoy the quiet serenity of musical crickets and flowing fountain water if a fountain is present.

For some, the ultimate garden dream is to have a pond installed. Ponds represent exactly what a garden is all about- owning a piece of nature close to home. Ponds are sanctuaries of life, capable of nourishing fish, aquatic plants and a variety of artificial decor such as decorative rock. If you have a pond or are considering installing one, be sure to include at least one accent light. These lights can be placed both on the ground and in the water. White is the most frequently used color, but filters can be used to change the color to hues of red, green, blue and more.

Underwater lights are capable of accenting any plants, fish or decor you have in the water. They sit at the bottom of the pond and shine upward. Garden dwellers can watch their fish swim around in the churning water. Above the water, plants, rocks and fountains can be accented. Pointing a pond spotlight at your flowing fountain can create a sparkling effect that is fun to watch. Accenting interesting rocks is a great way to add greater depth to the pond area. These lights can be attached to a time which shuts them off after a certain time to save power. Floating solar garden lights are handy because you don’t need to retrieve them from the water when you want to turn them on.

Having trouble nursing your garden plants to adulthood? Try growing them indoors using led grow lights.
