Install Cordless Blinds To Improve Décor And Home Safety
There are a couple of different options available to those who would like to do away with the inconvenience, messiness and safety hazards of installing blinds with cords. Cordless blinds come in many different styles; in fact you can find cordless types of most popular styles of blinds including venetian blinds, cordless cellular blinds, patio blinds and Roman blinds.
You have two common options available when choosing a cordless blind set. Some blinds are operated by remote control and these types of motorized blinds are great for installing in locations that are not easily accessible, such as skylights or other high windows. They are opened and closed via a small remote that is powered by battery. However, this kind of blind is not necessarily the best choice for every homeowner. There are two problems commonly faced when installing remote controlled blinds. The first is that the motorized parts do need occasional maintenance, aside from regular cleaning. Secondly, it can be quite frustrating if your remote control goes missing; something that does tend to happen in busy households. These motorized blinds are also usually more expensive than regular, or touch blinds. They can provide a workable solution for windows that are located high up and if you are only installing one or two the additional costs incurred are usually easily absorbed.
Your second option is to install touch blinds. This type of blind is moved up and down by touching the base of the blind with your hand. Usually very simple to install and operate, they do away with the need for keeping track of additional remotes. They are also simple enough for anyone to operate. Naturally they need to be installed where you have easy access to the window and blind. While slightly more expensive than blinds with cords, they are usually cheaper than those remotely controlled.
Either option is a great alternative for homes with young children or pets. Not only will the installation of cordless blinds improve the overall safety of your home but the absence of cords or wands improves the overall appearance of your window treatments.
