It can be hard being a man trying to navigate through the world of dating nowadays. After all, there are so many new rules that have popped up relating to etiquette and chivalry. What was once expected such as holding a door open for a woman may now even be flatly refused by a lady looking to assert her independence. Not to mention that men have to face possible rejection when they ask a woman out and it is usually up to them to plan the first date. Luckily, the basics of dating still apply and if you remember some general rules, you will find yourself showing the object of your affection that you are a great catch.
When you’re on that all important first date, you want to make sure your appearance matches the destination that you’ve chosen. It’s always good to dress just one minor step up than what you would usually wear to such a place. Although, take care not to upstage your date in clothing or she will spend the whole night worrying about her appearance. And similarly, you don’t want to dress like you’re taking out the garbage either or you risk making her think she wasn’t worth the effort. And despite what you might have heard about chivalry being dead, there is nothing wrong with being a gentleman. So go ahead and hold doors open for her, and always remember to pay for the check.
If you want a woman to think of you as a possible true love and soulmate, then you will have to master the art of conversation. And remember, a great deal of effective talking has to do with excellent listening skills. So give her time to tell you about herself and remember the little details, which will show that you are a great listener. Have fun dating and have faith that you will find the “one” that you are truly meant to be with one day.
