It may sound absurd but a story is told of a mobility scooter which sped with an elderly woman to her death. She was unable to control her mobility scooter speed, something which saw it speed off with her before smashing her on a wall and the rest as they say is history. Well, that is just a single of the many deaths resulting from scooters, and more specifically due to the malfunctioning in their speeding system. The malfunctions are said to be accidental though there are those which are man made, and especially by youngsters using scooters.
But scientific innovation is extremely funny, in that there are devices that have been manufactured to specifically deal with curbing over speeding in the scooters. They are the type which will be installed soon after the scooter has been bought, and they will be aimed at preventing the malfunctioning of a mobility scooter speed problem. They are available in different sizes, considering scooters are of different power capacities as well. They are not the type which can be fitted by every Tom, Dick and Harry as they are somewhat complex. Their operations are technical but they are proven speed governors in scooters.
There are some which are made by the manufacturers of mobility scooters, but there are those which are manufactured by other companies as well. The internet has been a ripe market for the purchases of mobility scooter speed controllers, as websites dealing in those are everywhere. Note that even after the gadget has been installed, it will still be up to you the scooter owner, to ensure that you exercise some responsibility. Their price ranges form one gadget to the other, and this is in regard to their sizes and the manufacturer. Make a point of carrying out research before rushing for the same.
