One of the main issues to address when doing house cleaning work is to disinfect. Germs and dirt are the enemy. Generally it is best to start at the kitchen, this tends to be the busiest room in the house. Fill your sink with hot soapy water and wash any dishes, pots and pans that may be dirty if a dishwasher is not available. Wipe down all counter space and appliances, use degreaser and glass cleaner if necessary.
Next move to the bedrooms and strip the beds. Collect any dirty clothes and take them to laundry area. Start the laundry and check periodically, this way laundry should finish about same time as house work. Put new bed linens on, some people like to spray the mattress and pillows with Lysol or Febreeze to freshen them up before putting on fresh sheets and pillowcases.
Now would be a good time to start cleaning the bathrooms. Flush toilets and fill with comet. Remove shampoo, soaps, and other bathing products from the shower or tub area. Spray the tub, including walls with bathroom cleaner or degreaser, let sit for a few minutes and then wipe down with wet sponge or cloth, rinse well with hot water. Remove any items from the sink and counter top area and spray with bathroom cleaner or degreaser, wipe with wet sponge or cloth, rinse with hot water and wipe again. Spray mirror with glass cleaner and wipe with paper towel. Scrub toilet bowl with brush, make sure to get under the rim then flush, spray toilet seat and lid as well as outside of toilet and tank, then wipe with wet sponge or cloth.
Move to the living room and family room areas and put away any items that are out of place. Now is a good time to sweep and mop the kitchen and bath areas. After mopping start in living room and family room and start dusting, when finished here move to bedrooms and dust these areas. Now all that is left is to vacuum. After you are done cleaning put away the cleaning supplies and tools.
