The hobby of indoor gardening is one that can be very relaxing and nurturing and at the same time one of the most frustrating and annoying hobbies that a person can take on. The reason for this usually is that people who are just starting out often times are not aware of what they are doing wrong so they just keeping doing the same things hoping to get different results, there is a word for that it is called insanity. This often times happens to new gardeners and they quit or give up thinking that they failed because of something wrong with them, this is however not the case and most times all that is needed is a little instruction and guidance and that is what we will be providing today.
If you have grow lights for your indoor garden and your plants seem to be withered or burned in appearance then you have your grow lights way to close to your plants. For those of you who have HID grow lights they need to be at least four feet away and have a reflector to help the light reach the plant effectively and if you have LED grow lights then you are good by having them about a foot away from the canopy of the plant without any reflectors needed. While we are on the topic of grow lights it would behoove you to get a twenty four hour timer that you can plug your lights into to help regulate your plants night and day period.
Stop watering your plants so much. This is by far the number one thing that kills plants in any kind of artificial container garden. When you over water your plants you actually hurt them in multiple ways. For one it makes the roots soft and weak and two it prevents the roots from searching out new water and thus making a strong foundation for the rest of your plant, and as a result the plant will either topple over or the roots will rot out. To solve this problem only water your plants two times a week at the most.
